I’m on a roll with the wood theme now and have just discovered these wonderful chunky reclaimed wood cutting boards made by Living Wood Designs in Canada.

The one pictured here in Black cherry wood already has a wonderful simple rustic heart detail carved on it, but there is also the option of adding a more intricate carved heart design to any of Living Wood Design’s other boards and wood items.

Hand Carved Wood Heart

This is what I’ve been looking for for ages… a beautiful and simple hand-carved wooden heart. Slightly distressed and with a beautiful grain showing through and a lovely warm glow, I love the way the walnut has been used so sympathetically.

This wood heart is big – 12″ by 14″ approx and 2″ thick, but the back is flat so it can be hung on the wall.

Valentine’s may be over but this would make a wonderful gift at any time of year – for an anniversary, a wedding gift, a birthday or just because.

This has to a totally unexpected gift for the romantic heart lover: a heart shaped birdbath hand-made in richly colored blown glass!

While it’s not exactly the sort of romantic keepsake to slip across the table at a candlelit dinner (at 10” by 9” of solid glass, it is a sizeable package), it will certainly make an impression! I usually go for bright, rich colors, but there’s something about this blown glass heart ornament that captivates with its delicate swirl of ethereal shades. Elegant and mysterious with a mermaid quality.

It is hand-made in Seattle, Washington, by local artisans and as an extra point of interest all the Glass Eye Studio ornaments contain ash from the 1980 eruption of Mount St Helens.

Personalised Wooden Heart Tokens

What could be simpler and more meaningful than a red wooden heart carved with your loved one’s name and a kiss? Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any other time of year, they could also be used as Christmas ornaments – get one for each of you, and one each for the kids too.

These are individually carved and painted to order. There is a huge range of options including larger wooden message hearts, which can have a romantic message of 6-8 words painted on. There is also a pretty range that would make fantastic wedding favours. They all come from UK site Country Hearts.

The red wooden heart pictured measures 3 ½ inches or 8cm high and costs GBP 6.50, about $10. It’s worth noting that delivery charges outside the UK aren’t cheap, so you’d have to order several items for it to be worthwhile.

My inner teenager fell in love with this at first sight – a glitzy, bright, rainbow, chunky, in your face heart! I’ve always been a sucker for rainbows as well as hearts.

It’s hand-made in glittery resin and hangs from a 18” ball chain. The heart itself measures 1.5 x 2 inches, so is big enough to make an impression.
