If your love is a vegan, a raw food health guru or organic devotee with a secret passion for chocolate, this is the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day!
Sacred Chocolate hearts are made from the purest raw chocolate, sweetened with healthy alternatives to cane sugar and retain all the super-food nutrients of cocoa. They come in a whole range of flavour varieties, each one hand-poured and hand-wrapped. The chocolate hearts aren’t huge, only 1.44oz each, but well worth it for a burst of pure chocolate guilt-free goodness!
Such a pretty bracelet with its colorful beads and wire heart detail, that it hardly needs the added incentive that it’s also about as eco-friendly as it gets.
The beads are hand-made from recycled paper sealed with non-toxic lacquer, the wire is re-purposed, and the whole thing is made in a Fairtrade project by women in Kenya and Uganda. Beyond that for each bracelet purchased a donation goes to a Children’s Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. The ultimate in feel-good green living!
It would make a great little Christmas gift, perfect as a stocking stuffer or buy it for yourself. I’m tempted!
Who knew that you could get eco-friendly watches as super-cool and funky as this! Sprout is a watch company that professes to make its watches as eco-friendly as possible without promising the impossible. It says that the watches are about 80% eco-friendly, which is impressively honest!
The watches come in a huge range of fun designs, but this simple heart motif is perfect for the young at heart romantic with green sensibilities, or the eco-warrior teen with an eye for fashion.
Sprout uses corn resin in place of plastic – renewable resource and bio-degradable; mineral crystal for the watch face instead of plastic plexi-glass; mercury free batteries; bamboo for the dial; and of course recycled packaging materials.
For the eco-warrior who still loves a dash of glitz, these heart pins made from recycled glass and pottery would make a great little gift.
Artist Nicole Whitney of Paloma Pottery collects broken glass and re-purposes it into a wonderful range of jewellery and household items. The glass almost has the look of a crystal geode with its multifaceted reflection of light.
Perfect as a stocking stuffer or a lovely romantic gift, the heart pins come in various colours from amethyst to forest green and measure 1” by 1”. I love the extra green touch of a selection of packaging options, from zero waste, through biodegradable low-impact packaging, up to gift wrap.
These funky soapstone hearts comes in several cheerful colours and designs.Sizes range from 1″ for the minis to 4″ for the large paperweights.
They are carved and painted by Kenyan men and women in a Fairtrade project that creates employment for around 800 families in rural Kenya. Soapstone is an amazing renewable resource when properly managed. It is hand-dug from pits where it naturally occurs. The pits are refilled after excavation and then left for 5-10 years when the soapstone reforms itself. The land is owned by the local people who work the soapstone and manage the land so that it stays in good condition.
And from all that sustainable care come these beautiful hearts: great gifts for the eco-conscious romantic in your life.
These soapstone hearts are sold through One World Projects and cost from $6 to$12 according to size.
Simple heart shape and smooth stainless steel, this looks like one of those feel good toys that would appeal to adults as well as kids. It’s aimed at little girls who believe in fairies I think, perhaps to emulate Tinkerbell in Peter Pan, but I could imagine it going down well with bigger girls too just as a beautiful toy.
There are no reviews that describe the sound of the chime, which makes it difficult to assess on sound appeal, but it’s definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a little gift to please a young daughter or niece, or a special stocking filler.
With spring in the air a romantic picnic with your beloved should be on the cards. What better than this heart shaped wicket picnic basket from Laura Ashley to hold an exquisite selection of gourmet goodies and set the mood for romance?
It contains two wine glasses, two plates, two sets of cutlery, a bottle opener, lest you forget that all-important tool, and a floral wine cooler – pink champagne, or chilled rosé do you think?
The only little quibble I have is that there doesn’t seem to be room for a huge amount of food – more antipasto than three course dinner, but if it’s romance we’re talking who’s going to be concentrating on the food anyway!
With Laura Ashley’s renowned floral fabric lining the basket this could be a wonderful spring time gift for that special romantic girl, even better filled with her favourite delicacies … and don’t forget the chocolate truffles!
Too rich and gorgeous to resist – these Venetian glass heart earrings just have to go with soft velvets, rich brocades, silks and satins… or just with a little black dress in sophisticated style.
They are hand-made with Venetian glass heart beads that have gold foil at the core and colored glass patterns in the next layer, set off by red Swarovski crystals and gold wire – jewels fit for a princess.
As each heart bead is hand-made no two are the same. Each bead measures 13mm / ½ inch across and the earrings are light and comfortable to wear.
I’d never thought of a wooden watch strap before – but it’s the perfect solution for those who can’t wear metal next to the skin, and it looks great in a retro, cuckoo-clock kind of a way!
The wood is solid Sandalwood from sustainable sources in Africa and India and is handcrafted to make a watch and stretch watch band of individual linked hearts. The wood is said to look better with age as it is polished and shined with daily skin contact and is splash resistant but not waterproof. The watch working itself is made in Japan by Citizen so reliable and good quality.
All in all this is a great gift idea for anyone who loves hearts, loves wood and has a quirky taste in watches.
This is what I’ve been looking for for ages… a beautiful and simple hand-carved wooden heart. Slightly distressed and with a beautiful grain showing through and a lovely warm glow, I love the way the walnut has been used so sympathetically.
This wood heart is big – 12″ by 14″ approx and 2″ thick, but the back is flat so it can be hung on the wall.
Valentine’s may be over but this would make a wonderful gift at any time of year – for an anniversary, a wedding gift, a birthday or just because.
