I love the simplicity of this little carved wooden box and its stylish red and black color scheme. It’s made from seasoned Linden wood in the Tatra mountains of Poland and carved and decorated in traditional style by artisans there.
Just under three inches across it is the perfect little treasure to give as a romantic gift with a little keepsake inside. The top swivels open to reveal a little round hollow just big enough to hold a ring, pendant, lucky charm or whatever takes your fancy.
Little girls would love these too, so it you want to surprise a dear daughter, granddaughter or niece on Valentine’s Day this would be just the thing.

Christmas ornaments aren’t the first thing you’d think of to give on Valentine’s Day, but this gorgeous paisley hand-crafted heart ornament is a collector’s piece and for someone who really loves real, old-fashioned, glass ornaments it would be a perfect choice.
It’s hand-made and decorated by Reed & Barton’s skilled artisans renowned for their beautiful quality and attention to detail. It measures 5.8 inches across and comes in a sturdy and elegant gift box to keep it safe in between holiday seasons.
This isn’t something for a family full of young kids or with pets that love playing with Christmas trees, but would be treasured by those loving old world style and beauty. Even better, by buying out of season you get a much better price, making it affordable when it might usually be out of reach.

Wooden hearts have their own special feel, warm and smooth, with the wonderful grain of the natural wood to trace your fingers around. This beautiful heart paperweight is made from sustainable olive wood by a Palestinian West Bank artisan. Sourced by Green Heart, it is ethically produced and traded, so makes a perfect Valentine’s gift for the eco-conscious man or woman.
The heart paperweight is quite small, 3 inches across, but perfect to hold in your hand, so it really doesn’t have to function as a paperweight, just as a carefully crafted piece of natural beauty!
The olive wood heart costs $21.95 from Green Heart.
Young girls like to feel special on Valentine’s Day too, so if you have daughters with a good taste in chocolate how about this simple but special Lindt milk chocolate heart.

I guess I’m slow to catch on, as I first thought that these wine charms were to hang on the bottle neck…duh!
They’re a brilliant idea to clip onto your wine glass at a party or gathering so that you know which glass is yours. All that inadvertent swapping of grape varieties (and germs!) is over, as you just clip one of these pretty glass hearts to your glass to claim it for the duration.
If you’re throwing a Valentine’s party these glass charms would be perfect party favors – your guests could use them for the party and take them home afterwards. Or get them as a stocking stuffer or a useful gift for your partner… maybe not the most romantic of gifts, but useful and pretty are good too!
These Heart Shaped Art Glass Wine Charms Set of 6 cost $12.99 from Amazon
I’m not sure if I love or loathe the idea of this intricately decorated wine glass! It’s gorgeous in its detail and sparkliness, but then I’ve always thought of wine glasses as clear crystal, the better to admire the ruby depths of the vintage! So I guess it depends if you are wine snob or tongue in cheek kitsch collector of gorgeousness!
If your beloved is a wine lover that doesn’t take him or herself too seriously, this could be a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, or any other occasion.
There are a whole series of different designs, all hand-painted by the Santa Barbara Design Studio and designed by Lolita Yancey. They come in a gift box and have a unique wine cooler recipe hand painted on the base.
Who knows, this could be the start of a brand new tradition and collection for you and your partner!
This Lolita Love My Wine Glass, Silver Lining costs $25.97 from Amazon
I hope your heart isn’t breaking in the lead up to Valentine’s Day! Hearts are at once strong and fragile, so it’s no wonder that hand blown glass hearts are so popular as romantic gifts on this occasion. Maybe its the heavy feel of solid glass in the hand, or the coolness of glass against a fevered brow, but glass is something that says forever like nothing else.
I love the orange flower suspended in the middle of this particular glass paperweight. It’s hand blown Murano glass, so each one is slightly different built up in careful layers with bubbles of air to add texture and interest.
This Hand Blown Glass Orange Flower Heart Glass Paperweight currently only costs $24.50 reduced by 80% from Amazon, so makes a very affordable quality Valentines’ Day gift.

I keep coming back to simple heart-shaped chunks of glass – there is something about the smooth curves, heavy and satisfying of glass hearts, and when they are hand-blown there are no sharp edges to cut, just cool depth and solid weight.
This is a range of glass hearts in various colours created by artisans, Jon and Shannon Felix of Avalon Glassworks, in Seattle.
I love the cobalt blue in particular but the amber is also enticing. All the hearts are 3”x3”x1” and they cost $30 directly from Avalon Glassworks.
