With Valentine’s Day creeping up on us it’s time for chocolate again. After all what says I Love You to a chocoholic better than a heart shaped tin of chocolate truffles. I know I’d be very happy to receive this as a gift no matter what the occasion!
Lindt truffles are rich and creamy with a mixture of dark, milk and white chocolate and they are melt-in-the-mouth smooth. There’s something in there for every taste in chocolate, even an extra dark one and a peanut butter truffle for those with sweeter tastes.
The tin contains about 25 truffles which wouldn’t last me long… so a great idea would be to find a note at the bottom of the tin promising a refill every month until next Valentines… now that would be a loving gesture!
Crystal hearts have such a wonderful energy that they make great gifts for all sorts of occasions. Children love them – so think of them as stocking fillers, unusual party gifts or collectibles. Adults enjoy them too, so smooth and tactile and pretty to look at, so they would make unusual wedding favours and loving tokens of affection.
Crystal Age offers heart shapes in all sorts of different crystals, from rose quartz (pictured), to red jasper, orange carnelian, onyx, sodalite and many more. Each crystal has different energetic properties, so if you are interested in that aspect rather than just prettiness, read up on their qualities before making your selection.
These crystal hearts are available from Crystal Age, based in the UK and there is worldwide shipping available. Rose quartz hearts cost from £1.99 to £59.99 depending on size.
If your love is a vegan, a raw food health guru or organic devotee with a secret passion for chocolate, this is the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day!
Sacred Chocolate hearts are made from the purest raw chocolate, sweetened with healthy alternatives to cane sugar and retain all the super-food nutrients of cocoa. They come in a whole range of flavour varieties, each one hand-poured and hand-wrapped. The chocolate hearts aren’t huge, only 1.44oz each, but well worth it for a burst of pure chocolate guilt-free goodness!
For the eco-warrior who still loves a dash of glitz, these heart pins made from recycled glass and pottery would make a great little gift.
Artist Nicole Whitney of Paloma Pottery collects broken glass and re-purposes it into a wonderful range of jewellery and household items. The glass almost has the look of a crystal geode with its multifaceted reflection of light.
Perfect as a stocking stuffer or a lovely romantic gift, the heart pins come in various colours from amethyst to forest green and measure 1” by 1”. I love the extra green touch of a selection of packaging options, from zero waste, through biodegradable low-impact packaging, up to gift wrap.
With spring in the air a romantic picnic with your beloved should be on the cards. What better than this heart shaped wicket picnic basket from Laura Ashley to hold an exquisite selection of gourmet goodies and set the mood for romance?
It contains two wine glasses, two plates, two sets of cutlery, a bottle opener, lest you forget that all-important tool, and a floral wine cooler – pink champagne, or chilled rosé do you think?
The only little quibble I have is that there doesn’t seem to be room for a huge amount of food – more antipasto than three course dinner, but if it’s romance we’re talking who’s going to be concentrating on the food anyway!
With Laura Ashley’s renowned floral fabric lining the basket this could be a wonderful spring time gift for that special romantic girl, even better filled with her favourite delicacies … and don’t forget the chocolate truffles!
In honour of Valentine’s Day, I’ve chosen something really beautiful, and unattainable for most of us – a gorgeous ceramic decorative plate by South African-based artist Ruan Hoffman. It’s a one-off piece exclusively available from the art gallery of Anthropologie and costing a mere $498 – but free for all of us to look at!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you…. and don’t forget that hearts and romance are for all year round…. not just this one day of the year. xxxx
These gorgeous little cups and saucers by Yedi Houseware are so kitsch that they’re irresistible! Bright contrasting colours, gold edging and both the cup and saucer is heart-shaped. You don’t notice it so much in the picture, but when the cups are filled it is easy to see the outline of a heart inside the cup.Think a shot of espresso with a heart swirl of cream on top.
They are made from fine porcelain and come in a sturdy satin lined hatbox, so make a fine gift for Valentine’s Day or Christmas, especially if you know that your beloved adores quirky ceramics.
The cups are quite small, so just right for elegant tea parties, rather than satisfying thirst in a hurry. Whatever you do, don’t expect your man to drink out of them!
I really like the bright colours above. but the tea set also comes in feminine pink if you want to get really girly! And little girls would love these too at any time of year.
If money is no object and gourmet chocolate the way to your beloved’s heart, then this has to be the ultimate in Valentine’s gifts!
A beautifully hand crafted mahogany box inlaid with a golden heart, and filled with hand-made gourmet chocolates shipped direct from France. The twelve sensuous heart shaped chocolates are made by a master French chocolatier, Pascal Caffet, from purest cocoa butter and are the ultimate in chocolate sensation.
The great thing is that even after all the chocolate is gone (sob!) she is left with a beautiful mahogany box as a memento, which can be personalized with a message on its brass plaque…and filled up again from time to time. If you really want to spoil her, perhaps a monthly standing order refill package of these special chocolates would be the way to win her heart!
