An original gift for a passionate baker, these heart shaped tins are perfect for baking a beautiful stacked heart cake for any romantic occasion.
For that matter what little girl wouldn’t love a fancy heart cake for her birthday cake. Imaginative bakers have even turned the heart around to construct elaborate shamrock cakes for St Patrick’s day, so there’s no end to the special occasions and holidays these cake pans could be used to celebrate.
Good quality aluminum pans from Wilton, these should last well and be a great addition to any keen baker’s collection. The set includes a 14 inch, a 12 inch, a 10 inch and a 6 inch pan, all measuring 2 inches deep.
Wilton Decorative Preferred 4-Piece Heart Pan Setcosts $34.89 for the set, down from $47.99, from Wilton via Amazon.
This antique reproduction heart padlock really appeals to me even though I’m not sure what I’d use it for. Quirky and with a substantial period feel, it functions well as a padlock, although I wouldn’t rely on it to be a real security measure in the face of determined burglars. Perhaps it would be fun to use as a decorative lock on a chest or treasure box, or as a mild security precaution on a donation or gift box at a special event or a wedding.
The heart padlock measures 5” x 3” x3/4 “, is made of sturdy metal and some may have a slightly rusted finish. Antique Reproduction Heart Padlock with 2 Skeleton Keys costs $19.95 from Amazon.
Isn’t this the most beautiful chocolate heart you’ve ever seen? Perfect for winning the heart of a confirmed chocoholic, the whole thing is crafted from best quality Swiss chocolate, and the pattern and golden powder shimmer is edible.
Unlike most chocolate hearts I’ve seen, this is actually made of really good quality chocolate and filled with eight divine hand-made champagne truffles.
This chocolate heart is made in England, but can be delivered overseas, and costs £18.95 direct from Betty’s.

A heart hole punch – essential romantic tool or waste of office space? I’m not sure whether I would buy this just for Valentine’s Day, unless I had a whole class full of small kids to entertain, but it could be fun to have around to liven up office life, or even just for the heart shape confetti it produces as cut out leftovers.
On second thoughts it could be just the thing for a wedding to punch holes for ribbon threading in menus or programmes and I’m sure there are many other creative uses we could come up with. What do you think would be a good use for it?
Suck UK Heart Hole Punch (SK HEARTPUNCH1)available from Amazon.com costs $15
The simplicity of these heart shapes along with the gorgeous grain of the wood is what makes these hearts appeal to me.
They’d be perfect for a romantic gift to someone who loves all things natural… and sustainable of course.
This wood was harvested from an 700 year old oak tree that came down in a storm on an English country estate – the full story of the wood is on the original Etsy listing.
The heart comes with a quotation inscribed around the edge, but this can be substituted by your own message or an alternative quotation if you prefer.
Crafted by Tim Nicholls of Woodpunk Designs in England, the wooden heart costs £40 or approx $64 via Etsy.
Simple, elegant, bright and cheerful these heart decorations are exactly what I’d make myself for a friend’s Christmas present. Hand-made by the ladies of the Heartfelt project, they are full of love, just as if you’d made them yourself – giving the extra the joy of a hand-made gift.
To tell the truth, I’m a little nose out of joint here, as Heartfelt was the name I’d picked in the unlikely event that I actually got around to creating a business out of my own felt sewing projects. I never did and they have, so I wish them very well with their initiative and am glad that they have so many lovely products to be worthy of such a brilliant name!
Heartfelt are a community initiative in South Africa, creating employment in a poor rural area and bringing new skills to the community. They create all sorts of felt products besides these (think magnets, keyrings, toys and mobiles) so go and browse for inspiration if you are looking for a special and individual gift. The website has a proper shopping cart and converts prices into several international currencies, so makes online shopping very easy – a welcome change from so many small sites and a sign of an efficient business!
These felt heart decorations cost R29 (about $3.50)
I had to include this heart chocolate box just because it is so bizarre. Hearts are all about romance, so how on earth does Darth Vader get to be cover boy on a box of Valentine’s day chocs?!
Darth Vader and romance are about as diametrically opposite as you can get – big scary bloke in black armor with a serious breathing problem, endangering all the good guys in the galaxy… not my first choice in romantic icons!
So if you are into major irony and/or your guy or gal is a huge Star Wars fan this could be the perfect gift, but otherwise I’d run a mile!
If you are tempted though, the Star Wars Darth Vader Collector Valentines Day Heart Box Caramel Chocolate costs $9.95 from Amazon.
