For maximum impact on a small budget, these Valentine’s Day chocolates stand out.
Packaged in a swirly heart-shaped tin are a selection of Dove’s Silky Smooth collection of chocolates. These are good value for money but the question is whether your beloved is a chocolate snob or just appreciates chocolate in any form?
If she loves gourmet chocolate you’re better off spending the money on a couple of bars of really great quality chocolate. If she just has a sweet tooth, then this could be the perfect combination of romance and candy. Check out this chocolate review for more insight into the contents of the tin.
These heart shaped tins tend only to be available around Valentine’s Day. The rest of the year you have to be content with the ordinary gift boxes.
Dove Valentine’s Silky Smooth Select Chocolates, 8.13-Ounce Heart Tin costs $13.83 from Amazon.
Silky Smooth Dove Milk & Dark Chocolate Promises Collection 35 Oz Gift Boxcosts $23.45
I love the depth of colour in these gorgeous felt heart ornaments: purple, pink and red make for a richness that almost glows from teh picture..
Hand felted from soft merino wool and decorated with red silk fibres, these felt heart ornaments make wonderful gifts for anyone you love. I can see them as Christmas tree ornaments or decorations for a child’s room, as favors for a Valentine’s Day party or as a little gift for a treasured daughter on Valentine’s Day.
They measure 2 inches across and come as a set of two which costs 7.50 euros or approx $10 from Namenia Felt on Etsy. Bear in mind they have to be shipped from the Netherlands, so order early to get them in time.
I guess I’m slow to catch on, as I first thought that these wine charms were to hang on the bottle neck…duh!
They’re a brilliant idea to clip onto your wine glass at a party or gathering so that you know which glass is yours. All that inadvertent swapping of grape varieties (and germs!) is over, as you just clip one of these pretty glass hearts to your glass to claim it for the duration.
If you’re throwing a Valentine’s party these glass charms would be perfect party favors – your guests could use them for the party and take them home afterwards. Or get them as a stocking stuffer or a useful gift for your partner… maybe not the most romantic of gifts, but useful and pretty are good too!
These Heart Shaped Art Glass Wine Charms Set of 6 cost $12.99 from Amazon
I’m not sure if I love or loathe the idea of this intricately decorated wine glass! It’s gorgeous in its detail and sparkliness, but then I’ve always thought of wine glasses as clear crystal, the better to admire the ruby depths of the vintage! So I guess it depends if you are wine snob or tongue in cheek kitsch collector of gorgeousness!
If your beloved is a wine lover that doesn’t take him or herself too seriously, this could be a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, or any other occasion.
There are a whole series of different designs, all hand-painted by the Santa Barbara Design Studio and designed by Lolita Yancey. They come in a gift box and have a unique wine cooler recipe hand painted on the base.
Who knows, this could be the start of a brand new tradition and collection for you and your partner!
This Lolita Love My Wine Glass, Silver Lining costs $25.97 from Amazon
I hope your heart isn’t breaking in the lead up to Valentine’s Day! Hearts are at once strong and fragile, so it’s no wonder that hand blown glass hearts are so popular as romantic gifts on this occasion. Maybe its the heavy feel of solid glass in the hand, or the coolness of glass against a fevered brow, but glass is something that says forever like nothing else.
I love the orange flower suspended in the middle of this particular glass paperweight. It’s hand blown Murano glass, so each one is slightly different built up in careful layers with bubbles of air to add texture and interest.
This Hand Blown Glass Orange Flower Heart Glass Paperweight currently only costs $24.50 reduced by 80% from Amazon, so makes a very affordable quality Valentines’ Day gift.

Looking for a last minute stocking stuffer for your beloved?
These gorgeous heart crystals would be perfect! Each one is an energy filled crystal, carved into a heart shape and glowing with colour.
The selection of stones is chosen to resonate with the chakras, so there is red jasper for the root chakra, orange aventurine for the sacral chakra, jasper, lapis lazuli, sodalite and amethyst and so on.
Whether you want to use them for chakra balancing, reiki, or just to enjoy because they are so pretty, they make a really meaningful gift under the tree or in a stocking!
7 CHAKRA HEART STONES w/ Heart Chakra Pouch ~ Jasper, Aventurine, Lapis Lazuli, & Amethyst cost $25.01 from Amazon and there is still just time to get them delivered for Christmas.
I love the simplicity of this sterling silver ring. Just a delicate heart shape in polished silver that is the right size for a pinkie / little finger.
The finger size is 4.25 or H-1 for UK and Australia. The ring is Rhodium plated so it won’t tarnish.
A pretty and romantic Valentine’s gift if your beloved is a silver person, but also tempting to buy for yourself, as it is very affordable on Etsy at $17 from VaLa Jewellery.
Thanks to Jenny for pointing it out to me on our Red Velvet Heart Facebook page!
Bright colors, funky design and hearts, hearts, hearts! This teapot would make a fantastic centerpiece for any tea-table or dresser.
Some might collect it as a decorative piece, but it’s totally functional and even pours well!
Bold and beautiful, it is a classic Romero Britto ceramic piece with loads of whimsical details and would make a great gift for a loved one who collects ceramics, either for Christmas or for Valentine’s Day.
New Romero Britto Teapot Square Heart Ceramic Dolomite currently costs $46, down from $101.97 at Amazon.
I’ve loved these gorgeous glass hearts, ever since I first saw them. There’s something about the solid, smooth weight of glass in the hand, the brilliant colours and the fact that they’re hand-made and each one is different.
Artisan-made pieces usually aren’t cheap…. so I was stunned when I saw that this one is currently hugely discounted on Amazon. It’s advertised at $13.99 down from $111.00 at the moment, so if you’ve been longing for one, but have held off because of the price, now’s the time!
Or get ahead of yourself and buy your Valentine’s Day gift now! Mind you, I’d not say ‘No’ to this for a Christmas gift either!

Berg cypress with natural hand-carved hearts
If you’re looking for a loving gift for an eco-warrior, what better than a tree? And a tree hung with natural hand carved hearts from a sustainable source gets even more romantic green stars!
These trees come from Heart Wood, a South African tree gifting company, who have gone all the way to make sure that this is a truly green gift, with recycled packaging, indigenous tree choices and loads of love put into the whole concept.
Love the idea but you’re not in South Africa? Try Tree2myDoor, a tree gifting company who deliver special trees as wedding gifts, Valentines gifts and more in the UK.
And in the US you can send gift boxed trees and bushes of various indigenous and exotic species from Colorado spruce to Ginkgo tree.
Assegai tree with hand-painted red hearts
If these little trees don’t make a big enough statement for you, how about buying an indigenous large tree from a specialist nursery. These can be any size up to about 3m tall or larger if you choose. Hang the tree of your choice with hearts and have it delivered to her door. Make sure you’re there to help plant it though, otherwise the romantic gesture might not go down all that well. Better still hire the tree planting service to do all the planting and maintenance of the tree.
